AUSTIN ENERGY GREEN BUILDER PROGRAM 5 STAR RATED HOME Green Build features include: 1) The HVAC is a 4 ton Carrier 16.8 SEER Infinity Series Heat Pump system w/ Puron refrigerant and Carrier Infinity Series fan coils with variable speed motors; thermostat is a Carrier Infinity programmable 7 day auto changeover 7 zone. This system has SEVEN temperature zones, allowing the house to be cooled at different levels depending on the occupancy load and also the occupant's desired temperature level; the system saves energy because it supplies the heating or cooling only to the specific locations where it is desired, and also because the variable speed function allows it to operate at half speed, or less, when there is only moderate heating or cooling loads needed; another upgrade to the HVAC system is the 4" pleated air filter. 2) The roof insulation in this house is polyurethane foam insulation system called "Demilec Sealection 500." This product costs almost three times as much as standard insulation, and the benefits of using it are enormous. The 'R' ratings of this product are good, but its long-term durability and effectiveness in sealing the house from leakage of air are substantial enough to enable a downsizing of HVAC tonnage which boosts energy efficiency dramatically. Using the spray-foam insulation moves the home's thermal envelope from the ceiling to the roof, and turns attic spaces into living spaces with vaulted ceilings. For more information on this product, see www.sealection500.com. Wall insulation is 5 1/2" of dry-spray cellulose, and pest, fire, and sound resistant R-19. 3) All ductwork is located inside the building's thermal envelope. This means your cooled air does not have to pass through a one hundred and fifty degree attic to get to where it is going. 4) Energy-star toilets, light fixtures, dishwasher; humidity-sensing fans in bathrooms and utility room which vent to exterior; recessed-can lighting fixtures do not penetrate the thermal envelope. 5) TWO tankless, on-demand water heaters; regulated shower heads, pex piping. 6) Galvanized reflective metal roof. 7) Big porches, 2' overhangs, ceiling fans, double pane, low e, Pella wood double-hung, casement and awning windows. 8) RECYCLED construction waste; low VOC paints, finger-joint studs; cabinets, flooring and carpet meet minimum voc levels. 9) 3rd party testing conducted and house is verified to be 40% more efficient than the average minimum; tests include blower door test which tests house for air leakage, and also air duct testing, static pressure testing and sizing of return air outlets.
